25 - Tainted Chinese Products and National Karma

According to Business Report: More tainted Chinese products found:

"Boston - Health authorities in Canada and Massachusetts have warned consumers of the risk from China-made counterfeit toothpaste after more tainted products were found, deepening concern about the safety of Chinese goods." (www.busrep.co.za)

There is a serious problem here: your safety and health is at stake. If you want to do something about this problem, stop buying any product that you know comes from China. Buy local, buy organic, and keep asking for labeling of each product that you purchase. This way we can force producers of all nations to take better care of what goes into our bodies.

Why would I be concerned with tainted products and how does this relate to my spiritual work?

There are principles that are being violated. One of them is the Principle of Righteousness and the other one is the Principle of Karma. These two are enough to put the perpetrator quickly into a payback situation.

When anyone, an individual or nation breaks the laws of nature, nature has a way of responding. Yes, I know that many nations break the laws of nature and it does not seem like they are suffering in the least bit. Well, they are and we can see it if we look closely.

At some time or another, it will come back to us. What goes around comes around; we all know this. This is exactly what is operating now and we see it in stark reality in China.

I am a historian and a long time student of Chinese History. I love many things Chinese and truly appreciate the rich cultural traditions of China. However, when something of this magnitude occurs, everyone in the world can be hurt and can suffer. This is just one of many serious problems that the Chinese government is allowing and already it is paying the price.

We have bad meat, bad tires, bad toothpaste, bad toys and more. We are told more than 80 percent of American broccoli comes from China as does the garlic and other agricultural products. These too have been found tainted. How many more products do we have to have tainted before we all do something about it?

A nation as big and as important as China has been poisoning its population for how long now? The rampant greed has taken its toll. And, they have been aided and abetted by Western corporations who do business in China. Now that the Western world finds out that more than 25% of products coming out of China are tainted with some kind of poison or have serious safety problems, we are taking notice. This is something that has been going on for a long time in China and we are waking up because the poison is now on our own doorsteps.

Karma has a nice way of working out. Whatever we do to others will be done to us. At some time or another, it will come to our doorsteps. The Chinese suffer and so do we. The Chinese corporations suffer and so do the Western ones. Everyone who breaks the laws of nature will suffer the consequences.

Now is the time to take action to correct these problems. The Chinese and Western corporations will do nothing until it hurts them in the wallet. Vote with your wallet; stop supporting these unrighteous business practices. For the sake of money, companies are ruining people’s lives and polluting the environment.

If enough of us do this, the producers will make sure that the products we buy are safe.

This brings up another issue: with globalization comes responsibility. We don’t much worry about how responsibly others act until it comes to us. Do we care how people are treated in other countries? Do we care how clean their food and water is? Do we care about the safety of their products and their food? Do we really care about how workers are treated? Do we care about human rights and the most flagrant abuses of humanity that we don’t hear much about? Now we have to care, because these products are coming to us and we better worry about them. Self interest is making us think globally!

The Ageless Wisdom teaches that we all live in one body, the body of humanity or the body of Earth. What happens to one part happens to all others. When human beings damage one part, other people suffer. With global warnings, disasters, and so-called natural catastrophes, we are seeing how everyone suffers when disaster hits one side. If food comes out of China and goes all over the world, anyone can be hurt by it. Nothing is secure behind our walls any more.

The next principle we are slowly learning is this: the way we think and feel has its consequences on the life around us. The physical actions of commission or omission have tangible results. Now we can stretch our minds a little and see how our thoughts and our feelings condition every action that we take and not take, and how these actions are the causes of the terrible conditions we see around us.

All kinds of disasters and crises are hitting humanity from many angles: severe weather, tainted food, bad leadership, aggressive behavior of nations against others, religious fanaticism gone even worse, intense materialism and consumerism, substance abuse by our youngest and brightest children, and so much more. But we can do something about all these things.

Yes, we can by going back and learning the great principles of life. Every nation has these; every religion teaches it; we all need to learn about it. We can start by learning about being righteous and observing the laws of karma.
