Idea One: The Fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of man

For me, there is a deeply moving meaning for Christmas. I don’t let myself get negative and discouraged with all the goings on around me. I keep in my heart the true meaning that compels millions of people all around the world to celebrate in song and dance and prayer and deep reflection. To me, the birth of Christ is a monumental event that signals a time of renewal and deepening levels of love and compassion for my fellow travelers on the path.

I do not get caught up in gift giving. I give simple and affordable gifts to my immediate family. My husband and I together buy a gift to give each other that we both can enjoy, something that adds joy to our home. We plan a beautiful dinner for the family and enjoy everyone’s company.

This year, I also decided to celebrate Christmas Eve at our Spiritual Center. Why not extend this sense of holiness and inspiration with others? So, we are having a lovely ceremony with traditional Christmas Carols, Holy Communion, and time to receive the blessings of Christ in prayer and meditation.

In addition, as my gift to all you readers, here is a special offering in gratitude for the tremendous wisdom that Christ gave us.

For the next ten days, I will post one of the basic, fundamental ideals that the Christ taught us taken from one of my father’s beautiful and yet unpublished writings.

These ideas to me are the real story of Christmas.

Christmas is the birth of the Cosmic Christ in your heart. This is a time to remember the deeper Teachings of the Christ and to try to put these into practice in our lives.

There will be no peace on earth, no goodwill among men and women and nations and other nations until we recognize these ten deeper meanings of Christmas.

Idea One: The Fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of man

The first thread was the idea of the fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of man. Can you beat this value? Impossible! It is a value that is the foundation for survival, the foundation for peace, prosperity, happiness, and health. Imagine how many millions of people died because of not accepting the fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of humanity. Who cares about your science? If you don’t know about the fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of humanity, all your science will work against your own survival. That is what we are seeing now. If we do not realize and act on the value of the fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of man, we develop sarcastic mechanisms to kill each other and chew each other.

Your science is bankrupt if there is no foundation. You cannot boast about your scientific achievement. If that science is polluting your air, if that science is polluting your rivers, lakes, and oceans, if that science is producing weapons for you to cut each other’s throats and annihilate each other, then it is not beneficial. There is no foundation.

What is the foundation? Christ said, “Our Father Who art in heaven.” Isn’t that beautiful? And He taught the brotherhood of humanity, that we are children of one Father. If humanity will realize this for even one second, all our politics will change. All exploi­tations will stop. You do not exploit your brother.

I know there are sick brothers and sick sisters. We are not mentioning them right now. The people who are really feeling the brotherhood and fatherhood concept and are dedicating their lives to actualizing the fatherhood of God, they know that if my Father and your Father are one, you are my brother. If you are my brother, I cannot act the way I am acting against you. Look what will happen politically, financially, militarily! Everything will change, and then your knowledge will serve something of value because you have a foundation.

This is one value that He brought, and it is the main thread in the pattern. There is no Christianity if you are not recognizing the fatherhood of God, and there is no Christmas if you are not recognizing the brotherhood of man — without any discrimination. This does not mean that you will be stupid and let other people eat you. But it is an idea, it is a value that must be accepted by all and worked on to make it a reality. No one is going to lose from that idea, from that value. Everyone is going to gain. That is the first value.
