08 - A Mother's Legacy - A Graceful Exit

A dear friend, Marie Constas passed away peacefully on November 21st at 3:20 am. She had known about her impending death and prepared herself and her family. She was so gracious and so helpful to everyone around her. I saw her beauty of expression and love regardless of how she was feeling. She became a tower of strength to everyone around her. From being with her and talking with her these last few months, I learned the art of passing from one realm into another.

We all understand that death on the physical plane is just one part of the story of our life. How many people take the time to comfort and heal those left behind? The document I have posted in this blog is from Marie, a statement that she left for her children and her grandchildren and her husband.

We have thousands of lives and in each one, we form a family and friendships and build relationships. Then, we move onto another life and another family and friends. Sometimes, we may find the same people in our circle of family and friends; sometimes, our talents in forming family and friends are used to make new families and new friends.

I have no doubts that when Marie comes back to incarnation, she will continue to build the beautiful relations that she did in this lifetime.

In her honor, I print here her statement: A Mother’s Legacy.

A MOTHER’S LEGACY
By Marie Constas
2006

These are guidelines for living that I have found most useful in my own life:

1. Always inspire people to become something more than what they now are.

2. Don’t criticize people. It cripples them by stunting their striving to improve.

3. Remember to bless obstacles, for they help us to grow.

4. Fill your heart with love. Charge your thoughts, emotions and actions with love, for it has the power to heal, to uplift and create. Love connects us to God.

5. Work for more than your personal interests. Our future progress in the higher worlds is based on our service to others.

6. Remember that life on earth is a school. We are here to learn the lessons of life, to develop talents and skills that we can use to help each other.

7. Remember the Higher Worlds and your place in the divine Plan. Direct your thoughts to God every day, throughout the day.

8. Say a blessing before going to bed.

9. Remember our Friends in the Church Invisible and thank them for Their help.

10. Remember the presence of God, the divine Spark within you, and seek always to live from that essential Core of your being.

11. Incorporate beauty in all your daily expressions and activities.

12. Develop a delightful sense of humor.

13. Establish a deep friendship with your spouse and a trust from your children.

14. Remember the words of Christ from John 16:33: “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But rejoice and be brave! I have overcome the world.”

My parting words are to maintain joy and rejoice for we are destined to be with our Lord Christ and carry on our training and service whether we are in the dense body or in a subtle spiritual body. Death is but a passing from one room to another room in the same creation.

On Saturday, November 25th, family and friends gathered and had a memorial service for Marie. The service was a mixture of religious ceremony and Wisdom Teachings and an Apache Ceremony for the departed. The Apache ceremony was done outside in a circle. As we linked arms, we sang and danced and let out a whooping sound at the end. We were all laughing and realizing how our present life is but one bubble in an endless chain of lives. What a nice sendoff to a loving and graceful woman!

In loving tribute to Marie and her family,
Gita
